Our New Vicar

Vicar Anthony Nwokeneme
Anthony Nwokeneme was born December 25, 1975, and grew up in Owerri, in Imo Statte, Nigeria, where his parents still live. He is the youngest male among ten brothers and sisters.

Young Anthony was brought up in the Roman Catholic traditions, baptized as an infant. He attended St. Augustine's Juniorate Seminary, and went on to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics from Abia State university, Uturu, Abia, Nigeria.

He joined the Nigerian Police, serving as a general duty police Officer. Later he served as Police Public Relations Officer. Because he would not convert to Islam, his boss transferred him out of the police headquarters to a less desirable post, under supervision - a form of punishment. In the face of corruption he was known for telling the truth, and this , too, did not sit well with everyone.

He ans his wife, Nkeiru, met at University, and were married in 2008. They have one daughter, Leah, born in April, 2010. They live in NIgeria, where Nkeiru is an attorney.

Vicar tony came to the U.S. to escape the persecution and threats of those bosses on the police force who demanded he become Muslim and participate in the widespread corruption.

His father paid people handsomely to bring him to America. But upon arrival, those people abandoned him, taking the money, leaving him alone. Immigration problems immediately resulted.

A lawyer, Rafael Ramirez, whose father is a Lutheran Pastor, appeared before Immigration free of charge on Vicar Tony's behalf. He also invited Vicar tony to come to church with him at Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS), Indianapolis, where he began attending. Along the way, he and other Pastors in the area got to know Vicar Tony and his faith, and encouraged him to become a Pastor.

Now in his final year at Concordia Theological Seminary, Vicar Tony has completed all his course work, and the Baltimore Vicarge will be his final year.

Vicar Tony will work at Martini Lutheran Church until May and one day a week at the Lutheran Mission Society all year long. In May St. Thomas will be blessed to have the help of Vicar tony for Hot Summer Kool Klub and other Summer activities. We look forward to getting to know Vicar Tony and work with him.

Winter Kool Klub

Winter kool Klub will begin on September 5th from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. for grades pre-k thru 6th.  The children will have chapel, bible class, snack, and a craft to do everyday.  Volunteers are always needed, just show up and volunteer your time and help St. Thomas spread the Gospel to the children in our neighborhood.

Please visit our guest book and leave any comments or questions. We would like to know how you heard about our website and how it may have helped you in any way.  Looking forward to your input, Gods Blessings.
